Tendances du Moment: The perfect Panama Hat in Singapore
Even after three years, Singapore never ceases to amaze me. Behind its glitzy facade of its shopping Mecca aka Orchard Road, it still offers little gems of shops. And that's exactly what I found before going away, the perfect hat shop. Nestled in Joo Chiat Terrace 'Hat of Cain' offers what our sun battered crowns need, the perfect hat! If like me, you are still not ready to use an umbrella, then this is your shop. As I was packing for my holiday I realized I was still missing an item on my summer list a 'Panama hat'. I had been looking unsuccessfully for a while but as it often happens here it is either cheap therefore not always great quality or extremely expensive. I wear hats very often but they're usually cheap ones that I customize and they do not last. My knowledge of hats being limited to Philip Treacy and since there is not tradition of ladies day at the races here that would justify indulging in such a piece, I simply googled and there it was! All I needed was a good quality functional hat that looked good and was bang on trend. I turned up at the shop and was more than pleasantly surprised. It was more than what I had originally budgeted for but all hats are hand made and hence all unique. The experience itselft was fantastic, the choice and range are impressive considering the small size of the shop.
As I was being measured and advised I suddently thought, how brilliant would it be to have a ladies hat night out? Let's give it a French twist even and bring some Champagne and canapes and have a great eve hat shopping with an expert? Let's make a date soon! All ladies who are interested, please get in touch! I can't wait...
Hats start from S$200.
